On June 9, 1995, while performing a gastrostomy on a boy he also performed a
circumcision. The parents had explicitly stated that they did not want a
circumcision, and there was no permit signed for circumcision. Dr. Telander
performed a surgical procedure without consent.
Dr. Telander admitted this and paid damages in a civil suit; however when
this was reported to the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (Board File #
SJP04980741) the complaint was dismissed.
Dr. Telander committed medical malpractice but was protected by the state
medical board.
