Dear Attorney General:

As you may know, the American Academy of Pediatrics issued last year a new position on circumcision stating that routine infant circumcision cannot be justified on medical grounds and the academy does not recommend this practice.

(see: http://www.aap.org/advocacy/archives/marcircum.htm )

In light of this new position by the AAP, and the fact that not one national medical society in the world endorses routine infant circumcision, I would like to inform you that the Olympic Medical Corporation, 5900 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108-3249 is manufacturing a device that is being used only to harm infant boys. This device is called a Circumstraint and has no place in a society that purports to protect children.

You are protecting children from tobacco, please protect their bodies from non-medical, disfiguring amputations as well. The Circumstraint torture device must be discontinued because it has no valid medical reason.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

Gary Burlingame

Dear Attorney General:

On June 1, 2000, I wrote to inform you of a product being manufactured in Washington state that is being used only to harm infant boys. Because I did not receive a response, I wrote a follow-up letter on August 21, 2000. I appreciate your efforts to investigate this, and would like to be kept informed as to the status and conclusion of this investigation. Would you please update me as to the current status?

I hope it will help you if I enclose an unsigned letter I received that seems to be about this issue. I would like to receive a letter that was signed, and that actually addresses the issue instead of this copy that could have been written by anyone. Will you investigate the torture device called Circumstraint or not, and why?

Sincerely,

Gary Burlingame
